Abstract: High quality pre-operative assessment can optimise patient outcomes and use of peri- operative resources. Considering fiscal constraints, alternate mechanisms warrant explo- ration. A smart questionnaire (computer-assisted health assessment by telephone, ‘CHAT’) can provide high quality data for clinicians. This study aimed to evaluate the potential benefits of a call centre using ‘CHAT’ then clinician phone follow up.
