| dc.description | Lung ultrasound is a rapid, easily accessible point-of-care tool to aid in perioperative decision-making. LUS can assist in the evaluation of pneumothorax, pneumonia, pulmonary oedema, atelectasis, and other common causes of severe perioperative hypoxaemia or any perioperative respiratory distress. Newer protocols, such as eFAST and RUSH, have been widely embraced in intensive care and emergency departments to approach ultrasound scanning systematically, with resultant high inter-operator agreement and reproducibility. This article aims to familiarise clinicians with the basis of LUS physics, findings and interpretation, through a recommended protocol. | en_US |
