Description: Goal-directed bleeding management (GDBM) is an important and effective strategy to address patient blood management. Appropriate management of perioperative blood loss, bleeding and acquired coagulopathy improves patient outcomes. A “one size fits all” approach to critical bleeding management may lead to unnecessary morbidity and mortality. Viscoelastic haemostatic assays (VHAs) as part of the PBM paradigm support the rapid identification of patients with coagulopathy at the point of care.
